Share a little about you and your family outside of CFE.
I live in Troy with my wife and two teenagers. Both of the kids workout with me at CFE. I’m in the IT field, so I don’t get a lot of exercise during my normal workday.
How has CrossFit positively impacted your health, career, and relationships?
Over the past 3 months that I have been doing crossfit, I have had great results. I have lost weight, and gained Muscle and energy. When I began crossfit I was only planning on changing the types of exercising I was doing to see if I could get some better results. What ended up happening was that I changed my entire lifestyle. I learned how to move better, eat better, and just became an overall more supportive person. One of the big differences between crossfit and a normal Gym, is the support and encouragement from the other members. I don’t feel like I’m competing against anybody else besides myself.
What brought you to CrossFit Edwardsville (ie, how'd you find out about us)?
I learned about Crossfit through a friend (Keith Miller).
What are your current goals?
My current goals are just to keep improving my health and fitness. My original goal was to help get in shape for a mountain bike ride (Bikerpelli) from Fruita Colorado to Moab Utah with my sister. The actual ride was canceled due to heavy rains, but I have continued with the crossfit workouts.
Most memorable moment at CFE?
My most memorable moment at CFE was watching my daughter climb the rope for the first time. My daughter was extremely shy all throughout middle school and her Freshmen year in high school. She has really come out of her shell this year, and Crossfit has helped her gain some the confidence that she needed. So, it was a big step for her when she went in front of a class that was about to begin, and climbed to the top of the rope for the first time. She came down the rope with the entire class cheering for her.
I really don’t have a favorite workout. My favorite thing about CFE is the variety in the workouts. I am always pushed, and always feel like I have accomplished something when I’m done. My favorite lift is the power clean.
